Rabbi Davis was born in Kingsbury, North-West London. He combined Yeshiva and University Studies and worked in the Ministry of Finance, Jerusalem, before receiving semicha in 1987 from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. During his nine years in Israel, Rabbi Davis married South African born Nechama Lipman. They have six sons.
Rabbi Davis was the Rabbi of the Adelaide Hebrew Congregation, South Australia, for close to a decade. Since arriving at the Chigwell and Hainault Synagogue in September 1997, Rabbi Davis has initiated the synagogue youth leaders' programme, now in its eighth year, explanatory services and an extensive adult education programme. In addition to his rabbinical duties, Rabbi Davis is also a governor of Ilford Jewish Primary and King Solomon High Schools, is the Secretary of the Rabbinical Council of the United Synagogue and is the Editor of the Daf Hashavuah.
