Members of the Belmont Community came together on Yom Hashoah to remember the six million Jews that were murdered by the Nazis.

Guest speakers included Emily Man, from Hatch End High School and survivor Hana Kleiner.

Emily was one of two delegates from her school to participate in the "Lessons from Auschwitz" educational programme run by the Holocaust Educational Trust, including a visit to the concentration camp and crematoria at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Emily spoke about her experience of visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau and how she has brought what she studied there back to share with other students and staff at her school.

Hana and her sister Sonja left Czechoslovakia in July 1939, arriving in London on August 2nd on one of Nicholas Winton’s Kindertransports from Prague. Their train was the last one to leave Prague before the outbreak of war.
