Watford Synagogue member Melanie Silver, who is responsible for the shul’s publicity, has been shortlisted in the Business Services category of the Business Women of the Year Awards 2017. She set up her copywriting business, Words etc Limited, in 1996 after a successful career in marketing for well-known companies including DHL and Forte Hotels.

For the past 21 years Melanie, an award-winning copywriter, has helped local and national businesses to grow by writing website content, magazine articles and case studies that help them strengthen customer relationships and sell their products or services. She prides herself on producing high quality work and, consequently, most of her customers come to her through personal recommendation.

A past winner of numerous industry accolades, including a PR Week Award and several Communicators in Business Awards, Melanie now hopes to add another trophy to her collection and make her three children proud. “I am thrilled to be among the finalists for the Best Business Woman title,” she said. “It would be wonderful to bring home the trophy but I know there are several worthy contenders so even being shortlisted is an achievement in itself.”

The Best Business Women Awards are designed to recognise the achievement of women across a wide range of business categories and are open to any female business owner nationwide.

“The business world is full of talented and dedicated female entrepreneurs who not only run successful businesses but in many cases also juggle the needs of their families,” comments organiser Debbie Gilbert. “This is a tough competition judged by business experts and to be a finalist is a major achievement. Finalists have been selected for their business acumen, determination, creativity and tenacity.”

The gala final of the Best Business Women Awards will be held on 12 October 2017 at Tewin Bury Farm, Welwyn, Hertfordshire when the winners will be announced.
