On 14th May, Richmond Synagogue via Richmond Jewish Community Hub (RJCH) organised a Zoom Conversation with Mark Regev the Ambassador of Israel. Attracting viewers from across the South London communities, the conversation was a sell out, as it was unfortunately limited to 100 viewers. This was the first time Mark Regev has addressed Richmond.

On COVID-19, he gave an insight into Israel’s successful efforts to limit the impact of the disease both in Israel and through extensive cooperation in the West Bank. "This situation brings not only hardships, but opportunities", said the Ambassador.

He described how this cooperation was in parallel to the very positive changes in the relationships with many of Israel’s Arab neighbours. He stressed how Israel has close technical cooperation with many countries, especially with the UK which is Israel’s fourth largest trading partner. On COVID-19 too, the UK and Israel are working closely. He quoted the awful statistic that there had been just over 250 deaths in Israel’s 9 million population but nearly 400 deaths from the UK’s Jewish population of about 270,000

Rabbi Meir Shindler of Richmond, who hosted the interview described the Ambassador as "truly an exceptional advocate for Israel who will be a hard act to follow".
RJCH continues to serve the South London Jewish Community from Richmond and to provide excellent content, now virtually.
