Last week saw two new communities join the United Synagogue.
Both Kingston, Surbiton & District and Magen Avot were unanimously voted in at a US Council meeting on 10th July.
Located between Kingston town centre and Surbiton station, in close proximity to the River Thames, Kingston, Surbiton & District has over 330 members.
After starting up as a new community supported by The US 2 years ago, Magen Avot is located in Hendon and regularly attracts over 100 attendees on Shabbat.
This news follows a number of communities similarly becoming full members of the United Synagogue, including Ruislip & District in March and the Birmingham Central Community towards the end of last year.
Commenting on the news, David Kaplan, United Synagogue Director of Community Services, said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome these two communities as full members of the United Synagogue. Kingston, Surbiton & District, together with Magen Avot are unique and special communities and I am looking forward to working in close partnership with them.”
There are now just seven remaining affiliate communities remaining under the United Synagogue.
