Sutton & District Synagogue has undergone a challenging reinvigoration programme in the past few months.   A young and dynamic new Minister, Rabbi Shmuli Sagal, has started to motivate and inspire the community to become active and involved. Young parents and their kids as well as the young-at-heart responded.  The Board of Management in turn started working harder than ever to make the community buzz.  To thank them all for their devotion, commitment and huge efforts, Synagogue Vice Chair Rica Infante asked their local Sutton & Cheam MP Paul Scully whether he would sponsor a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament for twenty of them plus their US Administrator Warren Land.

Paul Scully not only agreed but also volunteered to give them a two-hour guided tour himself.

“This is a day I will never forget” said Rabbi Sagal, who is also a law student, after seeing for himself the Chambers of the House of Commons and House of Lords, including St. Stephen’s Hall, the Royal Gallery, Central Lobby, voting lobbies, Norman Porch, Queen’s Robing Room, Prince’s Chamber and all the preparations for the imminent state visit of the Chinese President.
