Shenley US ran a number of amazing events for ShabbatUK 2016. These included a communal candle lighting and Friday Night Dinner, a Q & A session with both Rabbi Garber & Rabbi Birnbaum, a guest speaker and an Oneg Shabbat with Rabbi Garber.

Shenley US also took part in the Great Hertfordshire Challah Make which was attended by nearly 90 people, where Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis and the ShabbatUK 2016 bus surprised the bakers by turning up unexpectedly.

Congratulating the organisers, Rebbetzen Alli Sturgess of St Albans US and Rebbetzen Tanya Garber of Shenley US, on their achievements, the Chief Rabbi told participants: “I was so impressed by the efforts being made here,” he said, “that I felt I had to come and see them for myself.”

The sold-out event brought together men, women and children from the Welwyn Garden City and Luton communities as well as St Albans and Shenley to mix and knead their own challahs in preparation for ShabbatUK 2016.
