The launch of Young US’s Birthright initiative has had a sensation response – with 65 young professionals already signed up for the first two trips which are taking place in July and August.

These new Young US Birthright trips, which are supported by UJIA and in conjunction with Israel Outdoors, are available to 19-26 year olds with one Jewish grandparent or parent who haven’t been on an organised trip to Israel since they were 18.

David Collins, The US Director of Young People and Young Families said: “We are so thrilled by the huge response we have had to the launch of Young US Birthright trips. This response shows the trust people put in us to deliver inspiring experiences working with our fantastic partners. These individuals have not experienced Israel since becoming adults and some not at all. We aim to transform their relationship with Israel and make connections for them within the community back in the UK too.”

On the trips participants will have an opportunity to discover their heritage, and develop a love of Israel. They will visit a variety of places including the Kotel and Masada as well as Tel Aviv. They will also learn more about the Holocaust and its impact on world Jewry at Yad Vashem and engage with Judaism in the mystical city of Tzefat.

In addition to the tour guides, the group will be supported by Young US Rabbi, Josh Zaitschek, and Birthright Fieldworker, Danielle Friedman.

Speaking about the upcoming trips, Danielle said: “I’m really excited that Young US can now offer this hands-on experience of Israel to Young Professionals. We have been inundated by requests for places and information about these trips. There is a real interest from people in this age group in learning more about Israel and connecting to the land - and these trips will give participants a chance to do exactly that”.
