This month, newly elected MP for central Ealing and Acton, Dr Rupa Huq, attended Ealing United Synagogue’s community lunch, which takes place every two months, bringing the wider Jewish community together.

The synagogue, ministered by Rabbi Hershi Vogel for the past 12 years, is over 95 years old and has remained an active community throughout. The community’s most recent lunch was attended by over 60 people who enjoyed a delicious home-cooked three course lunch.

Newly elected Dr Rupa Huq, who also addressed the congregation, told the Gazette ‘I had a really warm welcome and enjoyed myself enormously. I’ve been in W5 for 43 years but up to now had not managed to previously visit the synagogue at Grange Road. I’ll definitely be back though.’

‘Inter-faith is an important quality that makes our borough work so well’ Dr Huq continued, ‘I’m looking forward to working with the synagogue for the next five years and hopefully beyond.’

Ealing Synagogue were delighted that Dr Huq was able to take time out of her busy schedule to come to the lunch and they plan to issue a further invitation in the hope of learning more about her stance on Israel and related subjects.
