Redbridge United Synagogue celebrated its first anniversary this Shabbat with a festive Shabbat service and a hot buffet lunch.

Reverend Newman and Rabbi Wilson led the services, with a near capacity attendance coming together to celebrate this first landmark in the Shul’s history. Rabbi Wilson compared the occasion to a romantic wedding anniversary date and called upon the community to continue investing in this relationship by seizing the many regular opportunities the Shul offers to come together.

Chairman Mike Callaghan said: “We are delighted to have reached this landmark. Looking back on the last year, there have clearly been many highlights, such as the inspiring Yamim Noraim services, fantastic social and educational events and a growing sense of togetherness. Of course there have been challenges along the way, but looking around, you can sense that we are now truly one united community”.

President of the United Synagogue, Stephen Pack, said: “Redbridge United Synagogue is a fine example of what can be achieved when local communities work together for the greater good. The leaders and members of Clayhall and Newbury Park had the foresight to come together to create a vibrant and sustainable community and they are now reaping the rewards.”
