Over the past month, Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue (BES), hosted a record number of services and events attended by well over 5,000 people.

The events across both our sites, Croxdale Road and Yavneh College, ran from Rosh Hashanah to Simchat Torah, and included inspirational shul services, explanatory services, children’s services, education programmes, kids’ dinners and succah crawls for all age groups.

The highlight for many, however, was the Simchat Torah festivities; dancing and hakafot for both men and women, and our “Night on the Pier” fun fair to celebrate our Chattanim and Neshot Chayil, Simon Herman, Nicholas Mandel, Myra Rosen and Lauren Schogger.

At this event, attendees enjoyed fun fair style entertainment, including a Rodeo Bull, Coconut Shy, darts and a shooting range, and themed food such as burgers, hot dogs, crepes and ice cream.

Anne Gordon, Chairman of BES said: “At BES, we have always been committed to creating an environment that better caters to the needs of our entire membership as a collective. The sheer range of events, and their subsequent popularity with both our members and beyond, is a real testament to the continued growth of our community and the tremendous efforts of the large team of volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the festive period a success.”
