The sun may not have shone on them, but there was no shortage of communal spirit as almost 40 members of all faiths living in the Radlett and the surrounding areas dug and planted over 2,500 daffodil bulbs on Aldenham Green.

Martin & Pam Worster, Hertsmere Deputy Mayor & Mayoress joined Viv Charrett of Aldenham Parish Council, Reverend Robert Fletcher and Rabbi Paul Freedman in spurring on all the volunteers to dig holes and plant a swathe of daffodils.

All volunteers were rewarded with the warm glow of satisfaction at a job well done but also with a traditional English tea and biscuits at St John’s Church nearby.

This project involved members of the local Church of England, Roman Catholic Church , Bhaktivedanta Manor, Radlett Reform Synagogue and Radlett United Synagogue.

This Mitzvah Day event has been a great testament to the people of Radlett, young and old alike, who gave of their time for the benefit of all in the spirit of true communal friendship.

Next spring drive along Church Lane in Aldenham  and see the fruits of our efforts.
