Belmont United Synagogue hosted a seuda talk by Ethiopian Jewish (now Israeli) Rabbi Dr Sharon Shalom, smuggled out of Sudan by "Agent Dani" and his Mossad team in 1982.

Raffi Berg, Belmont member and author of Red Sea Spies (about the Mossad operation to rescue Ethiopians) described the talk as gripping, funny, emotional, powerful, warm and engaging. He also said, “Rabbi Shalom received a standing ovation! We were blessed to have him in our shul.”
