Purim in the streets of Mill Hill

As the people could not come to Purim at the shul, the shul took Purim to the streets. Driving across various locations in Mill Hill, a procession of seven cars played festive music and delivered 1,000 Purim parcels.

The fancy dress was as good as ever, and the community children – and the not so young – had a ball dressing as aliens, witches, Harry Potter characters, superman, ballet dancers, or even Queen Esher and King Ahasuerus.

Social distancing was observed, so the usual Purim dancing was rather more modest on individual driveways, but the spirit of celebrating Purim definitely won over.

Proving that Purim is not only for the children, one elderly member said: “It was so wonderful to welcome the Rabbi and the volunteers. It made it the best Purim in the circumstances.”
