This week, members of Northwood United Synagogue voted overwhelmingly in favour of the appointment of Rabbi Aharon Zerbib and his wife Yehudit as their new rabbinic couple, with over 97% of the vote. They will begin their new positions on December 1st 2015.

Rabbi Zerbib, who has an Advanced Torah Studies education, has worked as a Spiritual Counsellor in Jerusalem for new immigrant youths from France, as well as in a variety of community positions. For the last three years Rabbi Zerbib has been the Chief Rabbi of Bulgaria.

Rabbi Zerbib’s wife, Yehudit, is studying towards a B.A. in Business Management. She has experience in outreach and has given lectures on Judaism to women in Tel Aviv. Yehudit speaks both Hebrew and English fluently.

Rabbi Aharon Zerbib and his wife Yehudit will join a community of 450 members, with previous Rabbi, Dr Moshe Freedman, now at his role at New West End United Synagogue.

Rabbi Zerbib, speaking of his new appointment, said:I am very honoured and looking forward to serving as the Rabbi of Northwood US. My wife Yehudit and I are excited to be part of this community and thank all the wonderful members that have greeted us with such warmth”.

Northwood Chair David Davis commented: “The Northwood Community is extremely delighted that Rabbi and Rebbetzen Zerbib have been appointed as our next spiritual leaders and we look forward to them joining us in December. They have already endeared themselves to the community and will play a vital role in our future development with their energy and experience in outreach. We know they are going to be a great part of the ‘Northwood Family’".
