Mosaic Voices was founded in 2012 by its Musical Director, Michael Etherton, as a professional, a cappella male voice choir specialising in performing, preserving and commissioning music from the Jewish Orthodox tradition. It is the resident choir of the New West End Synagogue, Bayswater, London.

The Arts Councils is now funding a project that involves both the commissioning of four new liturgical works for shuls, as well as new transcriptions of much of the now barely legible (for modern singers) music from the US’s classic 'Blue Book' (Voice of Prayer and Praise). We will be doing this work and making all the new and retranscribed music available for free to shuls and choirs online in a new Blue Book supplement, the first since 1933. Some of the new music will be premiered at a concert on January 28, 2020, just after Holocaust Memorial Day, at New West End.

This is where you come in! The choir need to find a modest amount of matched funding to complete the project. For £100, you can sponsor a piece of your choice in the new Blue Book Supplement. The choir is still compiling a list of songs which will feature in the supplement, so this is your chance to make sure your favourite song goes in. Perhaps it’s a piece you don’t hear very often and would like to hear properly performed or brought back into the repertoire. Your name, and a short dedication to a loved one will be placed at the top of the sheet music for the song and this will remain on the music for as long as the supplement exists.

The Supplement will be made available as a free online resource, so that anyone who wants to sing the music can download it and perform it free of charge. It will be sent out to shul choirs and choral directors around the world. All those to whom the online resource is sent will know that the supplement, just like its much-loved predecessor, was created under the auspices of the United Synagogue.

This is your chance to leave a legacy and be part of the future of Jewish choral music in the United Synagogue and we very much hope you will be able to support the project.

BBC Radio 3 broadcast Mosaic Voices' recording of Kol Nidrei on its 'In Tune' programme earlier this month calling it "a beautiful recording". You can listen again via: The choir have also made a beautiful video of the song which you can see on YouTube via:
