The Michael Seres Memorial Fund

Last year, Radlett United Synagogue member and former chair Michael Seres sadly passed away at the age of 51. Michael was involved in several different charities throughout his lifetime that were connected to the health issues that he faced, but outside of that he always had deep concern about the next generation, and spent many years working tirelessly to ensure that the children and youth in his own community of Radlett had activities and programmes to keep them occupied.

This led to being involved in bringing the first Tribe youth leaders to the Radlett community and from there he got further involved in the programmes that Tribe lead, with his own 3 children being amongst the many that have enjoyed the weekly activities, summer camps and tours organised by Tribe.

Sadly not every family has sufficient funds to be able to send their children on these wonderful summer programmes, and Michael would be extremely proud if he knew that young people from low income families were now able to go on those camps, or summer tours, thanks to a fund opened in his memory.

Michael's friends Richard, Paul and Andy will be spending the day that would have been Michael’s 52nd birthday (23rd March 2021), walking from his home in Radlett to Loftus Road Football Stadium, the home of his beloved QPR, and all sponsorship for that walk will go to Tribe’s newly founded Michael Seres Memorial Fund, dedicated to fund camps and tours for those unable to pay for it themselves.

The list below are the programmes that Tribe run, for which bursaries are available, and anything you can donate will go towards sending children and youth on one of these wonderful experiences. The Bursary Fund will be administered internally by the United Synagogue's Chesed Department.

  • Camp Gad (Year 5)
  • Camp Zev (Year 6)
  • Camp Barak (Year 7)
  • Camp Sufa/Kerach (Year 8 & 9)
  • Israel Tour (Year 11)
  • Poland Trip (Year 12)
  • Jerusalem L2L (Year 9 & 10)

Any amount, however large or small, will be a wonderful way to help honour Michael’s memory.
