Richmond United Synagogue’s Holocaust Memorial Day event was a huge success, with almost 200 people in attendance.

Guests included the Mayor, Baroness Kramer, local Lib Dem MPs Sarah Olney and Munira Wilson, Leader of the Council and 20 Council members. There were also representatives from the United Synagogue, the Jewish Leadership Council, and members of all faiths.

Professor Sir Lawrence Freedman gave the keynote speech. There was also a speech by Rabbi Shindler, poems read by four post Bar/Batmitzvah children, and music performed by Steve Levi of Oi Va Voi and friends. Two survivors, Sir Erich Reich and Marcel Ladenheim, also spoke, telling their extraordinary life stories.

Malcolm Levi, Chair of Richmond Synagogue, called it “a moving and meaningful event, much appreciated by all present.”
