Magical Purim at Sutton

Sutton & District Synagogue enjoyed a unique and most enjoyable Purim event this year. The Megillah reading was preceded by an activity for children led by Rebbetzen Tali Sagal, in which they made hamantachen and decorated masks and noise-makers. After an atmospheric Megillah reading in the Synagogue, a seventy strong crowd squeezed into the social hall for light supper and entertainment. With the tables decorated in red and black and adorned with large playing cards, it was clear to all that the theme of the night was magic and card-tricks.

Local Sutton entertainer, Theo the Magician, went round doing some close up magic for people whilst they enjoyed their meal before wowing the audience with a thirty-minute performance full of surprises. The very youngest to the more senior members of the community were enthralled and highly entertained, bringing the generations together in laughter and fun. Many reported that this was the most enjoyable Purim they could remember in the Synagogue.

Thanks must go to CRE for making this event possible and bringing the spirit of Purim to London’s most southern community.
