Thursday 8th December 2016

Following on from our outstanding Mitzvah Day success, last motzei Shabbat at Rabbi Hughes’s induction, we did it again. Guests included Mr and Mrs Pete Rutlidge, The Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs Charles Goldstein, The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, our MP Oliver Dowden, several local Clergymen of all faiths, Councillors, Rabbonim, Dayan Simons, president of the United Synagogue, Stephen Pack, president of the Board of Deputies, Johnathan Arkush, and of course the service was conducted by The Chief Rabbi.

The Chief Rabbi spoke of the history of Radlett and re-iterated what an outstanding example and educator Rabbi Hughes is.

Rabbi Hughes responded saying that he felt he had a great opportunity to bring the Radlett community along with him on his journey and that he and Chana felt so at home in this community.

The ceremony was followed by a bumper reception and it was a pleasure seeing all our guests stay for some time.

It was a lovely to welcome so many people that hadn’t seen our new shul and to hear them all say how beautiful it was.

The evening was organised by a small committee led by Jacques Weisser and Lisa Conway.

Rabbi Hughes said he was on cloud nine after the evening and the Chairman Alex Pomerance said that “the evening really showed the Radlett community at it very best”.
