Hertsmere Jewish Primary School (HJPS) Year 6 pupils are wowed the audience with their end of year show, which for the first time ever in the school’s history, the grand performance was held at the Radlett Theatre, Radlett.

The script of Oliver with a Twist  was adapted and tweaked, trimmed and customised by the Headteacher himself. Led by the HJPS Head, Mr Steven Isaacs, and Assistant Head teacher, Ms Natasha Rubin, as well as their dedicated team of Year 6 teachers, Mrs Natalie Rose, Mrs Tammy Kaplan, Mrs Gemma Gilbert and music teacher Mrs Daniella Joseph, the play, Oliver with a Twist, is like none before it.

The cohort of 60 Year 6 pupils practiced religiously for six weeks with rehearsals picking up pace over the last fortnight as they looked forward to the full hall two nights running.

Said Mr Steven Isaacs, HJPS Headteacher: “It’s wonderful to give the children an opportunity to perform on a real stage in a real theatre in front of a real audience – not just their parents. The children learn so much from this type of experience, and for many it has transformed their confidence and self-esteem.

“The children are so excited to be a part of this real-life production and we are so proud of them for working so hard to make this the huge success we know it will be. I have seen all our children shine like they have never done before. This is an experience and leavers performance they will never forget.”

The 90-minute production included many of the main songs from Oliver – but each incorporated an HJPS surprise.
