Last month, 180 people attended a fundraising dinner at Edgware United Synagogue for Hatzola Edgware. Hatzola is a charity based in North London, ‘a fast and free volunteer ambulance team, responding to medical emergencies and casualty incidents in the community – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – aiming to provide medical treatment within minutes of a call, and saving thousands of lives each year.’
Hatzola provides lifesaving work but relies on donated funds from the public and relies on generosity of the community. Guests had a hot meat meal and were entertained by two Magic Circle magicians- member Rabbi Geoffrey Shisler and Graham Jolie (a Mentalist). The magic tricks were entertaining, with audience participation. During the evening, David Rabson of Hatzola Edgware gave a moving appeal accompanied by a video to showcase Hatzola’s work.
The dinner raised £3000 for Hatzola from the community, providing funds for its important work.
Tina Oliver, participant, said, ‘’It was a fabulous evening. The magicians were amazing, the food was delicious & hot, and a lovely atmosphere. Kol Hakavod to the organisers who did a great job.’’
Rabbi David Lister of Edgware United Synagogue said, "The Hatzola dinner at Edgware United was a resounding success. There was a huge turnout from the community who enjoyed excellent entertainment and catering, and the presentation by Hatzola made the whole evening meaningful and memorable.’’
