Ealing's Zoom supper quiz

Ealing United Synagogue recently held its annual pre-Chanukah Supper Quiz (supper-less this year due to Covid) by Zoom.

12 tables of 6 were taken into a plenary room to gather and schmooze, and then Zoomed into breakout rooms. The question for each round  was emailed to the designated (and pretrained) team captains, who screen shared it with their teams. Answers were enthusiastically discussed, and final answers were sent to the organisers who marked them. Participants were then Zoomed back into the plenary room to hear the answerand the team score sheet.

The exercise was then repeated 12 times for each successive round, Zooming in and out between plenary and breakout rooms, and despite a number of teams being neck and neck throughout, the winner was declared.

The event was free but donations were sought (and generously made) to either Magen David Adom or Jewish Womens Aid, both of which had faced overwhelming demand this year.

The charities and participants owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the Shindler Glass family for their ingenuity in planning the evening, compiling the questions, and technical skill into putting their idea into action for this hilarious and unusual quiz evening.
