Forget Palwins No.5

Belmont Synagogue welcomed the start of the Winter with its latest initiative – a chicken soup Kiddush! More than 90 people enjoyed a wonderful, musical Friday night service, led my Rabbi Marc Levene. This was followed by his wife Lisa’s outstanding home cooked chicken soup with all the extras. This was such a popular occasion that it is going to be repeated once a month throughout the mid-Winter.

Belmont Family breakfast

Belmont youth worker, Sam Cowen, led a children and parents family breakfast on Shabbat morning. 25 children and their parents sat down to cereals, yoghurt, croissants, juice and for the parents, coffees and teas. This was followed up by the children’s services. Parents welcomed this initiative as an opportunity to chat to each other. Sam said it was great to see some of our non-regulars joining us on this occasion and welcoming this once a month event.

Arising from this occasion, the community is now going to put on a family Shabbat lunch at the end of January.
