Cheesecake Recipe: Ideal for Shavuot!

With Shavuot approaching this week, how could we have not put up a recipe for Cheesecake! Let us know if you try and test this one and send us in your favourite recipes to editor@theus.org.uk

Ingredients: 

  • 1-1/2 cups biscuits, crumbled
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • About 32oz of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs

Method:

  • Heat the oven to about 160 degrees celsius/ 325°F.
  • Mix the biscuits, 3 tbsp sugar and butter together; press onto the bottom of an ovenproof dish.
  • Beat the cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar and vanilla extract with a mixer until it is well blended. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing on a low speed after each just until blended. Pour this mixture over the crust.
  • Bake for 55 mins or until the center is almost set. Loosen the cake from rim of pan; cool before removing the rim. Refrigerate for four hours before serving.
