Catford & Bromley Mitzvah Day 2016

A group from Catford & Bromley Synagogue spent Mitzvah Day 2016, last Sunday, in Waitrose Beckenham collecting food for the Lewisham Food Bank.

A phenomenal response was receieved from the shoppers there - the amount of goods donated was incredible and very humbling to witness.

A lot of the customers in a predominantly non-Jewish area such as Beckenham expressed an interest in the concept of Mitzvah Day and were impressed that a Jewish organisation should be collecting for a food bank! In fact, several asked if they should get kosher food for us.

Apart from providing food for those less well off than ourselves, we feel this has done a great deal to further interfaith relationships in our area.  A real Mitzvah.
