On Thursday, 26 participants returned from an unforgettable experience in Israel with Young US Birthright.

Supported by UJIA and in conjunction with Israel Outdoors, the trip provided 19-26 year olds who had not been on an organised trip to Israel since they were 18 with the opportunity to discover their heritage and develop a love of the country free of charge, as a gift from Birthright.

Over the trip, participants connected with one another, creating life-long friendships, as they saw Israel like never before.

A wide-range of activities included camel riding in the Desert, floating in the Dead Sea and visiting key landmarks such as Masada and the Kotel. The group also had a chance to visit Yad Vashem where they learned in detail about the Holocaust and its large impact on world Jewry.

Overseen by Young US Rabbi, Josh Zaitschek, enthusiastic tour guides and leaders accompanied participants, with Rabbi Sam Taylor, Community Rabbi at Western Marble Arch US, together with Israel Outdoors & Young US Birthright Fieldworker, Danielle Friedman supporting the group as well.

Sam Cohen, a participant on the trip, said: “The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic, giving me the opportunity to meet people that I would not have met had I not gone on the trip. In a short space of time, we saw many different aspects of Israeli culture and enjoyed a number of amazing activities, whilst also learning about our Jewish heritage”.

Speaking about the trip, Danielle from Young US said: “Building on the success of previous summer trips, we were once again able to offer this wonderful and inspiring hands-on experience in Israel to a group of Young Professionals, some of which who had never visited the country before. Our participants always relish the chance to learn more about Israel, whilst gaining an invaluable connection to the land which they can apply to their everyday lives”.
