Barnet United Synagogue took the lead on Green Shabbat under the talented leadership of Shul & Council member Donna Cohen.

Donna has taken the initiative on eradicating where possible single use plastics so kiddush and soft drink cups are now compostable, plastic table covers are no longer used and the children have reusable beakers.

Donna spoke passionately this Shabbat about her green vision for shul and the wider world and then introduced Rt Hon Theresa Villiers, our local MP and Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, who spoke about the Government's commitment to green issues.

The community then enjoyed a delicious kiddush sponsored by Barnet members Natalie & David Shaw.
