Ambulance Wish Foundation and US Chesed needs you!

The United Synagogue is partnering with the Ambulance Wish Foundation by providing volunteers to help fulfill the wishes of terminally-ill individuals.  US Chesed are promoting the scheme and seeking volunteers.

The Ambulance Wish Foundation UK is an emerging charity, inspired by the Dutch Charity, Stitching Ambulance Wens. Its primary purpose is to provide relief enabling people in the UK with a chronic or terminal illness, by the provision of a free ambulance transport service to a place of personal significance to fulfil a final wish.

These wishes may include a trip home, family outing, attending an event, visiting a favourite place or meeting someone special. We aim to fulfil individuals wishes.

Our work plays a critical role in the special end-of-life care that focuses on improving quality of life for patients and their families.

We are looking for volunteers to help assist in the ambulance and with final wishes:

 

Client Transport Assistants

 

Main Purpose of Role:

· To accompany the drivers on the ambulance when fulfilling an individuals last wish

 

Required Skills:

· A warm, outgoing and caring personality

· The ability to reassure anxious or worried patients

· Good spoken and written communication skills

· Able to maintain patient confidentiality

· Smart and appropriate appearance, some uniform provided

· Good timekeeping and organisational skills

· The ability to work in a team

· Physical and emotional stamina

 

Administration Assistants

 

Main Purpose of Role:

· To assist with a wide range of administration duties, which contribute to the efficient running of a wish

· Dealing with US enquiries by phone, email or post

· Initiating wish correspondence

· Maintaining US databases

· Writing thank you letters

 

Required Skills:

· Good telephone manner

· Computer literate, confident with programmes such as emails, databases and Microsoft Office

· Comfortable to work alone and in a group

 

Vehicle Equipment Technicians

 

Main Purpose of Role:

· To ensure that ambulances are clean inside and out

· To maintain stock levels on the vehicles

· To identify and faults with the vehicles and immediately report to the manager

 

Required Skills:

· Stamina and fitness

· Feel comfortable working outdoors, whatever the weather

· Be able to use different types of equipment

· Have an interest in vehicles
