ALEI TZION GAIN FULL US STATUS
The Council of the United Synagogue last night voted overwhelmingly to grant Alei Tzion full membership status within the United Synagogue Community. Established just over three years ago by local residents, and based at the London School of Jewish Studies, the Hendon based Synagogue is one of the fastest growing communities in the UK and with an average membership age of under 30, it is committed to religious Zionism and modern orthodoxy.
Benefits members can now enjoy include access to the Tribe Community Membership scheme which encourages 21-30 year old singles to join US member Synagogues, support provided from the large US community network as well as full burial rights.
Eliot Kaye, Trustee of Alei Tzion, commented: “We are delighted that the United Synagogue has welcomed us into its community and look forward to being a part of the US family. We are confident that joining the United Synagogue will provide a strong platform for growth as we take the next steps in our vibrant development and we look forward to being able to contribute fully as one of the new members of the United Synagogue.”
Simon Hochhauser, President of the United Synagogue, commented: “My colleagues and I are delighted to have finished our first term by welcoming Alei Tzion and Barnet as full members of the United Synagogue. These wonderful communities have shown their commitment to the concept of Community by joining us, and we will now extend a warm invitation to other orthodox communities in London and beyond.”
