US Appoints New Head Of Chesed

US APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF CHESED

US Chesed, the welfare arm of the United Synagogue, has appointed Michelle Minsky as its new Head. A member of Belmont United Synagogue, Michelle joins after 20 years working in public housing for Westminster Council in addition to 15 years service on the board of the Industrial Dwelling Society, a housing charity based in East London.

In her role as Head of US Chesed, Michelle will oversee the numerous welfare services on offer to US members and the Jewish Community, the Pesach Food Parcels initiative and Hospital Visitation, as well as of course engaging in worldwide social action projects such as the Blood Drive, which launched in the UK in 2009 and Australia in 2011.

Michelle will also play a key role within US Community Cares who have a network of support groups across over 40 US communities, where she hopes to include more US Shuls and augment the activities and advice on offer.

Following her appointment, Michelle commented;

“I look forward to working for the United Synagogue to build on the incredible achievements of my predecessor Candice Woolfson, to improve the services available and to really reach out to all of our membership going forward, and in particular engage more with our youth via Tribe and its partners.”
