YOU'RE HIRED! WINNERS OF CHARITY APPRENTICE ANNOUNCED
Google’s UK Communications Manager, Steven Rosenthal, Vivienne Lewis charity consultant with over 30 years experience in the Jewish voluntary sector and Chairman of computer company Viglen, as well as guest star of BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’ Claude Littner, were guest speakers at the ‘Dunstan Road Youth: The Apprentice’ – Chesed Style.
Based on BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’, the three session programme organised by the Tribe youth directors Gabrielle and Simon Stern at Golders Green United Synagogue, aimed to encourage members to initiate charity events for themselves, with participants competing to host the ultimate charity event. Each session focused on a different element of event planning from a talk by Vivienne Lewis, consultant from Jewish Woman’s Aid on fundraising to a discussion with Steven Rosenthal on marketing.
Winning team Aspire won after pitching Zumbathon to an audience made up of a judging panel including Claude Littner as well as the Dunstan Road community. Aspire will put their plan into practice in the summer with the help of their competitors, with funds raised going to the Chicken Soup Shelter in Stamford Hill, the only Kosher soup Kitchen in London.
David Hochhauser aged 15 from winning team Aspire said;
“We are absolutely delighted to have won the Golders Green Tribe Apprentice, and commend all the other teams for their pitches too. We hope to raise as much money and awareness as possible for this hugely worthwhile cause.”
Claude Littner, Chairman of Viglen and a guest speaker at the final added;
“In the real Apprentice, there is always someone who shines. However, all the competitors have done brilliantly, produced superb presentations and great ideas with lots of originality. The evening was a real success.”
