SURGE IN MEMBERSHIP LEADS TO NEW US RABBINIC POST

First Ever Associate Rabbi Appointed for Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue

Borehamwood and Elstree United Synagogue is delighted to announce the appointment of their first ever Associate Rabbi for the community. Rabbi Boruch Boudilovsky will be joining the community from the 3 October 2010.

The brand new post of Associate Rabbi has been created to support the fast growth and development of this vibrant community – the third largest Orthodox community in the UK.

Born in Israel, Rabbi Boudilovsky obtained his smicha in Jerusalem and has attended schools and colleges in both Israel and the USA. He served in the IDF as a paratrooper and has both taught and acted as a counsellor for children of all ages. Most recently he has been working as an educator in an Israeli school teaching children with mild learning disabilities. Rabbi Boudilovsky has also served as visiting Rabbi and Chazzan across many Synagogues in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Boudilovsky is married to Esther and has three children.

Announcing the appointment, Synagogue Chairman, Tony Arnold, said, “With 2,150 members and 1,300 households, Borehamwood and Elstree United Synagogue is arguably one of the fastest growing and most active Jewish communities in the UK. We are delighted that Rabbi Boudilovsky will be joining us and look forward to welcoming him and his family into our community.”

Rabbi Boudilovsky added, “My family and I are exceptionally pleased to be joining the lively Borehamwood and Elstree US community at this crucial stage of its development. We look forward to contributing to its future growth and really getting to know, and understanding the needs, of its members.”

Welcoming the appointment, Rabbi Dr Naftali Brawer said, “Our community has taken a bold and decisive step forward with this appointment. By moving from a solo rabbi to a rabbinic team we will be better able to serve our burgeoning membership and build for our future. As our community goes from strength to strength, I am personally thrilled that we have appointed such a talented and accomplished associate rabbi and I look forward to working closely with my new colleague as we drive our community forward.”
