PROJECT CHESED INSPIRES AT PURIM WITH 'BUY ONE, GIVE TWO'

Over 400 Mishloach Manot gifts will be distributed to elderly and isolated members of the United Synagogue community as part of a new initiative, the 'Buy One, Give Two' campaign, by Project Chesed this Purim.

Having purchased the contents of the Mishloach Manot at a discounted price, for every £5 gift bought by a US member, Project Chesed will be able to provide a second at no extra cost and give it to one of the Synagogue's Community Care Groups to distribute to some of their needy members.

The initiative is being piloted in Borehamwood, Kenton and Shenley Synagogues with the intention to expand in to more US communities next year.

Project Chesed has also had generous donation of goods from Yarden which have been distributed to a further 10 Community Care Groups across the community.

Helen Myer, Project Chesed Fieldworker commented: "Purim is the only Jewish festival where it's a mitzvah to give gifts of food to others. This year we are asking the community to give Misloach Manot to family and friends while at the same time, helping a fellow member in need in the community. With this project in place, we hope that many members who would otherwise be without a gift will now have the opportunity to benefit from our community's generosity."
