PRESS RELEASE
BUSHEY SYNAGOGUE SET FOR NEW COMMUNITY INITIATIVE
London, 4 December 2008
Bushey United Synagogue is delighted to announce the appointment of Rabbi Adam Edwards who will serve as the Bushey / Seed Community Educator. This new position presents a groundbreaking partnership between the United Synagogue community and the adult education organisation, Seed.
The venture is being jointly funded by both bodies with the goal of the project to create an educational infrastructure within the community, with a particular focus on young families.
Rabbi Adam, his wife Tali and their two children recently moved back to the UK from Jerusalem. Rabbi Adam has already established a reputation as an educator of note, combining intellectual rigour with sensitivity and humour.
This project is a result of discussions between the US and Seed over the last two years and is hoped that this is one of a number of such projects in the future.
Paul Mendelsohn, Chairman of Bushey Synagogue commented, "The joint partnership between our community and seed it the first of its kind and marks an exciting and innovative way forward. One which I am sure will benefit many of our members in the community."
Rabbi Joey Grunfeld, Founder and National Director of Seed, commented: "In recent years Seed has been working in conjunction with Jewish schools offering parent education. This project provides an opportunity to create a link between home, schools and the community."
Rabbi Adam Edwards said: "It is a tremendous honour to be part of the educational team at Bushey working side by side both with Rabbi Salasnik and the Community Director Rabbi Jonny Spector. Bushey is a community with a lot of energy and we look forward to being part of it all."
