US COMMUNITIES SUPPORT BLOOD DONOR CAMPAIGN

The United Synagogue's blood donor campaign, being run in partnership with the National Blood Service, is hoping to secure many new donors over the coming weeks as local communities get involved.

Hendon United Synagogue will be hosting a blood donor session on 9th November from 9.30am-4pm, and Borehamwood & Elstree United Synagogue is supporting a Joely Bear Appeal blood donor session at Fairfield Junior School in Radlett on 23rd November from 9.30am-4.30pm. All willing donors are encouraged to register with the National Blood Service by calling 0845 7 711 711 to find their nearest blood donor session and arrange a time to donate. The United Synagogue community who have already signed up to donate include Rabbi Ginsbury of Hendon Synagogue, Simon Hochhauser the United Synagogue President and Jeremy Jacobs, Chief Executive of the United Synagogue.

The initiative, which is being led by the US' welfare arm Project Chesed, aims to send out the message that 'whoever saves a life, it is as if they have saved an entire world.'

Candice Woolfson, Project Chesed's Director at the United Synagogue commented: "It is so important to give blood and with less than 5% of the UK population donating regularly, we are asking all of the Jewish and wider community to give of ourselves. Hopefully by doing this, we can all partake in a life saving act this year.
