29th November 2011

STANMORE AND CANONS PARK UNITED SYNAGOGUE ERUV ARRIVES

Stanmore and Canons Park Eruv Committee have today announced the completion of the Stanmore eruv.

The Eruv has taken some six months to construct and covers an area of approximately 1.5 miles radius around the Stanmore and Canons Park Shul, including the majority of the current Stanmore and Canons Park United Synagogue membership

The Stanmore and Canons Park Eruv is the latest Greater London Eruv to be built in the past few years. The Borehamwood and Elstree Eruv Committee, who have themselves just celebrated their one year anniversary, were among the first to congratulate the Stanmore community on their achievement.

Rabbi Jeremy Conway, Director of the Kashrut Department at the London Beth Din and Eruvim commented;

“A period of intensive inspections and checks to test out and ensure the strength and integrity of the Stanmore Eruv has now been successfully completed and the London Beth Din are delighted to give their Seal of Authorisation to yet another London Eruv, following in the footsteps of North West London, Edgware and Borehamwood.”

Philip Hertz, Chairman of Stanmore and Cannons Park United Synagogue said;

“We are all absolutely thrilled to have got to this stage and hope to see the fruits of all the hard work that has been put in by Dr Nigel de Kare-Silver and his Committee in the coming months and years.”

Dr Nigel de Kare-Silver, Chairman of the Stanmore and Cannons Park Eruv Committee added;

“Subject to the final regular check of the week this Friday morning by our Shomrim, we are delighted that the Stanmore Eruv will be declared operative for this Shabbat. Our thanks go to Dayan Simons of the London Beth Din and in particular to Rabbi Conway and Rabbi Adam Edwards of the United Synagogue’s Eruv department for their enormous input and continued support and guidance as well as to my committee members for their hard work and ethusiam. This is a fantastic achievement that our community should be extremely proud of as we go from strength to strength in the coming years.”
