AN INSPIRING FIRST EVER POLAND PROGRAMME FOR WOLFSON HILLEL PARENTS

Eighteen parents whose children attend Wolfson Hillel Primary School, have returned inspired from a two day bespoke Poland programme. The trip was led by Rabbi David Mason from Muswell Hill United Synagogue with logistical help from the United Synagogues’ Community Services Division and the Living & Learning Department. The trip was the first of its kind - the United Synagogue has previously run Poland trips for United Synagogue communities but now hopes to organise other visits for school parents.

The group, who were based in Krakow visited the Kazimierz Jewish District, Righteous Gentile Oscar Schindler's factory and had a guided tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau during the two day educational programme.

Nicky Marks, a parent at Wolfson Hillel School who initiated the trip and participated commented;

“This trip to Poland was hugely educational, unbelievably emotional, highly inspirational but above all it left me with a huge sense of pride to be Jewish and memories that will remain with me forever.”

Rabbi David Mason from Muswell Hill United Synagogue who led the trip added;

"The Wolfson Hillel trip to Poland was a great success for all who went. There has been tremendous feedback from the group and what is clear is that those who went were touched as Jews and also as human beings. It has also strengthened the image many had of the United Synagogue.”
