ST ALBANS BECOMES A FULL MEMBER UNITED SYNAGOGUE
On Sunday 10th July, the St Albans United Synagogue affiliated community voted in favour of becoming a full member US Shul by a huge majority.
St Albans currently has over 130 members and with the Hertfordshire region becoming extremely popular with young Jewish families, St Albans has the potential to attract many more young couples in the future, ensuring the community will continue to grow and develop in the coming years.
With the assistance of the United Synagogue, St Albans hopes to invest in a dynamic Rabbinical couple to lead and develop the congregation. The community will now also have access to the wide range of benefits the United Synagogue has to offer, including access to Tribe Community Membership as well as applying for loans and grants to enhance and support the community.
David Kaplan, Community Services Director said;
“This is very exciting news, St Albans is already a very warm and friendly community and I am looking forward to helping them add to this. I will be working closely with the Executive and Board of Management to make sure the potential for growth in the St Albans area is realised and ensure that the Shul continues to be a modern United Synagogue.”
Karen Appleby, Vice-Chair of St Albans United Synagogue commented;
“We are delighted that the United Synagogue shares our vision of the potential of the St Albans area as a magnet for Jewish families wanting to combine the benefits of living in a tranquil and appealing out-of-town environment with ease of access to London and all parts of the country. The wide-ranging support the US is able to offer us as full members will undoubtedly help put St Albans on the Jewish map and enhance the attractions of our charming small community.”
