US CHESED SAMPLE WHISKY TO RAISE FUNDS
50 people attended a Scotch Malt Whisky Tasting and auction evening on June 29th, raising over £8,000 for the United Synagogue’s Chesed Bursary Fund, hosted at the home of the parents of US President Simon Houchhauser. The US Chesed Bursary Fund was set up by the US Chesed department to help worthy recipients who would not otherwise be able to attend Tribe Israel Tour, camps and schemes.
Five handcrafted scotch malt whiskies from The Balvenie Distillery were sampled and several bottles from the Balvenie range, including a rare Balvenie Thirty Year Old, were auctioned to raise money. The auction was conducted by Dr Andrew M Forester, The Balvenie’s UK ambassador, who flew down from Scotland especially for the event.
Gaby Morris, Chair of the US Chesed Bursary Fund said:
“We feel that no Jewish child should be left out of the important activities of the Tribe youth movement, including visiting Israel with Tribe Israel Tour this month, alongside attending Tribe residential and day camps because their family cannot afford the costs.”
