PINNER ANNOUNCE NEW RABBINICAL TEAM, RABBI DANNY AND ANNA BERGSON

Last weekend, Pinner United Synagogue members voted to make official the appointment of their new Rabbinical team of Rabbi Danny and Anna Bergson. A high voter turnout sealed the appointment and confirmed the wonderful impression the Bergsons had left on the Pinner community over the course of Shabbat.

During Shabbat with the Pinner Jewish Community, Rabbi Bergson led a number of services including Kabbalat Shabbat in a Carlebach Style and Mussaf on Shabbat morning. He also gave a shiur after mincha followed by a question and answer session. There were also opportunities for the Youth and older congregants to discuss many topics with Rabbi Bergson throughout the weekend.

Manchester born Rabbi Bergson will now step down from his position as the Community Rabbi at the Newton Mearns Hebrew Congregation in Glasgow where he also acts as Chazzan on Shabbat and the High Holidays. Together with his wife Anna, they have previously worked with students and young Jewish Professionals in Manchester.

Rabbi Bergson said of his appointment;

“Anna and I are so excited to be joining Pinner Synagogue, which is such a vibrant community and has tremendous potential for even greater development. From the moment we first visited Pinner we were overwhelmed by the warmth shown to us. We look forward to many fruitful years ahead”

Howard Lewis, Chairman of Pinner commented;

“We are delighted that the community has endorsed the recommendation of the selection committee and the Board of Management. We believe that Rabbi and Rebbetzen Bergson are a dynamic team and bring with them warmth, spirituality and enthusiasm which will help not only in attracting new members but also in providing excellent pastoral care for our existing members. We look forward to working closely with them for many years to come”.

Pinner Selection Committee Head Steven Daniels remarked;

“The selection committee was very pleased to receive more than twenty high quality applications from all over the world in response to our advert. We interviewed several excellent rabbonim and put the shortlisted candidates through an extensive assessment, testing a wide range of their skills. The Committee was unanimous in its decision that the Bergsons fitted Pinner's requirements perfectly.”
