EALING COMMUNITY SEE COMPLETION OF THEIR NEW HOME
Ealing United Synagogue officially relocated on 21st May, holding their first Shabbat in their new premises, situated directly behind the old building.
200 people, both past and present members of Ealing, attended an emotional Shabbat morning service which began in the old Shul and after the Prayer for the State of Israel, there was a procession of Ealing’s nine Sifrei Torah to the new building. The service recommenced in the new building and was led by Neil Shestopal, warden, elder and resident Chazan of Ealing United Synagogue.
Many artefacts from the old building have been transferred to the new Shul, including the curtains to the Ark, Yahrzeit boards, ornamental displays bearing the prayer for the State of Israel and the Royal Family and the Ner Tamid. The Ark doors from the old building have been transferred to a new Ark replicating the original. There are many new modern features as well, including a ramp for wheelchair access and a new kitchen.
Marianne Temple, member of Ealing United Synagogue said:
“For a community that celebrated its 90th anniversary just 18 months ago, there is still much life, commitment, loyalty and passion in its members to continue until 120!”
Stephen Rajbenbach, United Synagogue Head of Property commented:
“The US were delighted to have proposed this idea which has been so warmly received by the community and to have overseen the development of a beautiful new synagogue and community centre.”
Rabbi Vogel of Ealing United Synagogue remarked;
"I was delighted with the turnout of people who came to see a renewal of the Ealing Jewish community. It is essentially a new lease of life and I hope that the enthusiasm and support for our shul will last for years to come!"
