BRITISH GAP YEAR STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM TILT
28 British Gap Year students have graduated from TILT, the Tribe Israel Leadership Training programme.
The select group of enthusiastic students were chosen to participate in five intense leadership training seminars throughout the year, and these included inspiring and motivating topics ranging from public speaker training, Halachic dynamics in Youth Leadership, and counselling skills. The TILT programme also provided madrichim for JFS students spending time on kibbutz Lavi for a Shabbat.
The TILT programme is run by Aaron and Gaby Godfrey, who made aliyah two years ago after working as Tribe youth directors at Radlett United Synagogue.
Rabbi Gideon Sylvester, the Tribe Israel Rabbi, congratulated all the participants on completing their year in Israel. Speaking about his recent Tribe Campus tour of Great Britain, he urged them all to make a difference in their communities on their return.
Kelsey Bennet, a Tribe member and currently at Midreshet Moria seminary commented: “The Lavi Shabbaton was an inspiring experience. It brought back happy memories from when I was on Lavi with JFS- a great chance to put all the skills we learnt on Tribe into practise.”
Aaron Godfrey, TILT programme organiser remarked: “The plan is to help train the future leaders of Tribe and the United Synagogue. We really feel that the students gain an added dimension to leadership from the programme – something that they can take with them for the rest of their lives.”
Rabbi Gideon Sylvester, the Tribe Israel Rabbi said: “The British Jewish community needs young, dynamic leadership and after a gap year in Israel our students are well equipped to make a difference. We at Tribe Israel look forward to hearing the success stories of our members and will support them in every way we can."
