RABBI BRAWER TO LEAVE BOREHAMWOOD & ELSTREE SYNAGOGUE

After four years of exceptional spiritual leadership, Rabbi Dr Naftali Brawer has decided to explore new challenges in his professional life and is to leave Borehamwood and Elstree United Synagogue at the end of August to head a new Foundation promoting Spirituality in the Workplace.

Rabbi Brawer and his wife Dina’s contribution to the community has been deeply valued and the process will begin shortly to find an appropriate replacement.

Commenting on his resignation, Rabbi Brawer said:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue for the past four years. During this time I have devoted myself to bringing a sense of cohesion, identity and purpose to our burgeoning community. Dina and I have introduced many new projects as well as new ways of thinking about Jewish education, social responsibility and the nature of community itself, and we look forward to seeing the community go from strength to the strength in the coming years.”

Anthony Arnold, Chairman at Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue commented:
“It is with regret that Rabbi Brawer and Dina have tendered their resignations as Senior Rabbi and Rebbetzen of our Synagogue. I am sure I can speak on behalf of the whole community in thanking them for their exceptional leadership over the last four years. We will greatly miss him and Rebbetzen Dina and wish him every success in his new career.”

The Chief Rabbi, Lord Sacks, commented: “Rabbi Brawer has been a creative force within the Rabbinate, a distinguished colleague specialising in Muslim Jewish relations as well as a close and cherished friend. His new challenge is a fascinating one and we have agreed to stay closely in touch so that he can continue to contribute to the Jewish community.”
Simon Hochhauser, President of the United Synagogue said: “The United Synagogue is greatly indebted to Rabbi Brawer for the enormous contribution he has made during his time serving our community. The US will be left all the richer for his invaluable leadership, guidance and support.”
