RADLETT WELCOMES RABBI LEO DEE AND RABBETZEN LUCY DEE

After an extensive recruitment process, Radlett United Synagogue this week welcomed their new rabbinic couple, Rabbi Leo and Rebbetzen Lucy Dee who will be engaging with and supporting the thriving community of 600 families with their inspirational and exciting leadership.

Rabbi Dee brings a wealth of experience from his previous position as assistant Rabbi at Hendon United Synagogue (Raleigh Close) which involved officiating at services, giving shiurim and running an extensive educational and social programme. The Dees introduced a wide range of activities in the community including home hospitality, evenings for young couples and singles, learning with Bar/Bat Mitzvah children and Tzedakah initiatives.

Radlett United Synagogue is a young community with over 1000 adult members and over 800 children under the age of 18. Established at its current premises in Radlett in 1995, it is a forward thinking and dynamic community which combines tradition and values of Orthodox Judaism with a modern and open approach.

The chairman of Radlett United Synagogue, Andy Katz, delighted with Rabbi Dee’s selection said;

“Rabbi Leo and Rebbetzen Lucy Dee are ideal for Radlett. Rabbi Dee is a real rising star within UK Rabbinate. In Hendon amongst other priorities Rabbi Dee had been concentrating on reenergising the community, on the provision of pastoral care and on running a very extensive educational and social programme of activities and events. These are all key priorities for us.“

Rabbi Dee’s background includes a degree in MSc Chemical Engineering from Queens' College Cambridge and he spent over a decade in Consulting and Finance prior to joining the Rabbinite. He spent four years studying in yeshiva from 2004 and gained semichah from Rabbi Shlomo Riskin in Efrat and Rabbi Zalman Nechamia Goldberg in Jerusalem.

Both Rabbi and Rebbetzen Dee are both looking forward to joining Radlett United Synagogue and said on their appointment:

“Lucy and I would like to thank Rabbi and Rebbetzin Ginsbury and the whole Hendon United community for their many kindnesses and friendship. We very much look forward to joining the warm, welcoming and dynamic community of Radlett.”
