A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR TEENS ON TRIBE POLAND TRIP

20 teenagers from across the United Synagogue family participated in the Latest Tribe Poland trip led by Rabbi Andrew Shaw, Director of US Living and Learning. This inspiring trip was for Year 12 students – aged 16 – 17 years old.

On his return to the UK, Rabbi Andrew Shaw, said: “It’s easy to go to Poland and to come back depressed and disheartened by the horrors that happened there. The Tribe Poland Trip 2010 showed how you can come back inspired and proud of your Jewish Heritage. It was an honour to lead this group and I think they gained a huge amount from learning about Jewish history and the part they have to play in the future of the Jewish people.”

Commenting on the experience, Tami Nussbaum of Hendon United Synagogue said; “ The Tribe Poland trip was literally a life changing experience that I will carry with me forever. We bonded amazingly as a group through both the emotional and upsetting intensity of the journey as well as the uplifting and hopeful message that it left with us. I’ve never felt prouder to be Jewish.”
