NEW VOLUNTEERS JOIN UNITED SYNAGOGUE’S WELFARE WORK
New volunteers for United Synagogue Community Cares (USCC) came together this week for a special induction training course.
The new volunteers from across the US family attended the course at the United Synagogue’s head office which explored the role and responsibilities of USCC volunteers and the purpose of their work.
During the course of the day’s workshop the new volunteers were given an understanding of confidentiality, boundaries, validation and empathy as well as looking at effective communication and good listening skills.
The new volunteers will carry out a number of important activities within their communities including home and hospital visits, offering a listening ear, and helping new mums.
Commenting on the day, Candice Woolfson, Director of US Chesed, said: “Our US Community Cares Groups support our members in times of need – making a real difference to thousands of people’s daily lives. We encourage all of our new volunteers to attend this course as part of our work to professionalise the service we provide to our members.”
