PRESS RELEASE

RECORD BREAKING US WELFARE DRIVE FOR ROSH HASHANAH

Over 1,300 home visits will be made by US Chesed’s volunteers in the run-up to Rosh Hashanah this year across 38 communities – more than ever before.

The US Chesed Department is working with 38 United Synagogue Community Care Groups to launch their biggest ever pre Rosh Hashanah welfare campaign for their members.

The volunteers will be calling and visiting hundreds of community members including those who have been bereaved in the last year, had a new baby, are elderly or isolated as well as those that the Rabbi or others know would appreciate a visit. The volunteers will be taking honey cakes as a gift to those they visit.

Launching the campaign, Candice Woolfson, Director of US Chesed, said:

“Our pre-Rosh Hashanah phone calls and visits are an important part of our work to reach out to all US members requiring support. Every year our 1,000 volunteers make a real difference to the lives of others – we are determined to be there for everyone in our community who needs us.”
