KISHARON HELPS PUT THE SPARKLE BACK INTO US SILVER TREASURES

United Synagogue treasures will be sparking this Rosh Hashanah thanks to an exciting new initiative from Project Chesed and Kisharon.

Working with Kisharon, the charity that caters for the needs of the learning disabled, Project Chesed has launched a new United Synagogue silver cleaning project for small groups of men aged between 20 and 40. These adults, who have various disabilities including Down syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder, have volunteered to contribute to the wider Jewish community by participating in this innovative project.

The first group of adults will be cleaning silver at Muswell Hill United Synagogue in the run up to Rosh Hashanah.

Launching the project, US Chesed Director, Candice Woolfson said:
“These volunteers will help make sure that the silver in our shuls is shining bright on Rosh Hashanah and beyond. This project is an important opportunity for the people that Kisharon support to make a valuable contribution to the upkeep of our Judaic treasures. For the United Synagogue it is an important opportunity for our communities to beautify the Torah while also giving a real sense of purpose to some of the Kisharon adults.”

Additional United Synagogue communities are planning to join this project over the coming months. They will get their silver cleaned regularly while also empowering the Kisharon young adults.
