TRIBE HELPS STUDENTS CLOSE THE GAP
Students from 20 different Israel Gap Year programmes will travel to take part in the ‘Closing the Gap’ event in Jerusalem on Monday 17th May. Over 100 gap year students in Israel will come to Kibbutz Ramat Rachel in Jerusalem to benefit from a wide range of presentations to help them prepare for Jewish life on campus back in the UK.
Students from a wide range of Gap Year programmes including FZY,Yeshivat Ha Kotel and Midreshet Ha Rova will hear talks from a variety of individuals including Rabbi Andrew Shaw, Executive Director of Tribe, and Candice Woolfson from Project Chesed as well as hearing advice from Jewish Chaplaincy about the support available on UK campuses.
The event is organised by Tribe, in partnership with Jewish Chaplaincy.
Commenting, Rabbi Andrew Shaw said: “Closing the Gap is a crucial event for these gap year students. Tribe Israel introduces the students to the issues facing Jewish students in the UK – and the support that is available to them as they start planning for the coming year back home.”
Closing the Gap gave students will also have the opportunity to meet with other students who will be attending their universities, allowing them all to get acquainted before the year begins.
Anoushka Lester, ex JFS student, studying at Baer Miriam said "The event is invaluable for any of us going to university. Now that the year is coming to an end, we have to think about the future as well as say farewell to each other. We also say a sad goodbye to Tribe Israel who has been such an important player in our Gap Year experience."
